Holidays 2002
Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy Holidays to everybody from our first joint Holiday greetings as the Schuepperts! While 2001 was a year of change, 2002 was our year of evolution. We hope you enjoy a quick look at what we have been up to in the past year as we would like to share our adventures and stories with you, our friends and loved ones.
Evolution #1: Marital Status… definitely!
Eighteen months after Paris we were wed in Hinsdale and the celebration followed at the Montefiori just outside Chicago on August 24th. We were joined by a small group of our closest friends and family (and wish we could have hosted more of you!) on a Saturday afternoon. While it had been raining all week (even resulting in flash floods throughout Chicago), the skies cleared up for Heather to be the “pretty pretty Princess” she deserved to be. The tango flamenco followed our wedding bells and kicked off the champagne festivities. We enjoyed a quick honeymoon on the Amalfi coast in Italy and a cruise through the Greek Isles into Turkey. We’re enjoying life as “the Schuepperts” and Heather still giggles when she gets called “the Mrs.”
Evolution #2: Life developments
We were overjoyed to bear witness to many of our friends “evolve” as well – we were honored to attend weddings in Toronto, St. Louis, Chicago, Eaton Rapids, and Detroit. We also congratulate our friends that announced engagements this year and a special toast to Heather’s brother who just recently got engaged. Something seemed to be in the water on campus as a host of friends announced pregnancies (congrats again guys!) so Stenning has kept Heather on a very strict no-tap-water diet. Heather has been taken Spanish lessons so she can make fun of Stenning in multiple languages while Stenning is working on getting done with his job search so he can satisfy Stanford’s minimum rounds of golf for graduation requirement. He’s no longer an embarrassment and we both look forward to leaner times where we can take advantage of our time here both on the course and throughout the surrounding area. Last year we enjoyed quick trips to Napa, Carmel, Sausalito, Hearst Castle and Tahoe. There’s still so much to see and do now that Stenning isn’t buried deep in his books.
Evolution #3: Employment prospects
Heather still enjoys her work at the San Jose Repertory Theatre and has been promoted to Events Manager. She handles all the opening night dinners, fundraising functions, and galas. She has also started a new program at the Rep called “the Scene” that is successfully bringing a whole new crowd to the theater. Stenning, on the other hand, still has no clear picture as to where he will be employed. He has focused his efforts on returning to the Private Equity industry (the same industry he left when we came to Stanford) but has faced a very difficult market. He’s looking forward to joining the right team and has met some great people thus far. That said, he may be asking if any of you need your lawn mowed or car washed come next fall. In other exciting news, Heather has begun a new small business of her own – Evolution Marketing – focused on brand and marketing consulting for small businesses. She already has a few clients and we are working together on building the backbone to the current diversion that could become a full-time passion. If you know any small businesses looking for expertise, please give us a head’s up!
Evolution #4: Living prospects
We’re still living on campus in student housing – 500 square feet of lovin’ luxury! J All kidding aside, it’s been great – we’re close to school festivities and many of our friends and Stenning can still ride his 10-year old rusted Trek bicycle with a seat that’s way too low to and from classes. While we plan to travel next summer (likely Africa together and Stenning has a rafting trip with his brother), we don’t yet know where we’ll be returning to next fall – the West Coast? East Coast? Midwest? South-East? Stay tuned so you can have ample warning before we come raid your neck of the woods!

Carpe Diem and Happy Holidays,
Heather and Stenning
