Charity Involvement
Getting Involved in the Chicagoland Community

"The future will be better tomorrow."
- Former Vice-President Al Gore

Ever since growing up in Barrington, I have always felt a desire to give back my time and energy to a community that has given me so much. I spent the vast majority of my time at Northwestern dedicated to Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the country*, and continue to stay involved in Chicago through my efforts at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Illinois.

I have also found myself involved in the Twin Cities to Chicago AIDS Ride 2, an amazing organization that gives a new and fresh meaning to the terms "community" and "family."

Pushing through the Wisconsin countryside doing my part to raise over $5 million dollars for AIDS related charities in July, 1997.

Note my friend Chris Gray in the background... he has bigger arms, but who's in front!

Notes: *I congratulate Penn State for having the largest college philanthropy in the country, their Dance Marathon. It raises over $1M every year and continues to grow. Due to their sheer magnitude (5 times larger than Northwestern), however, they have some organizational involvement beyond students. As a result, the Northwestern University Dance Marathon is the largest student run philanthropy, even if it ranks second by total size.
