August 13th: HOTEL
Chicago to ~Mitchell, SD (along I-90) 16 ½ hour drive
Drive as close to Badlands as possible (~Mitchell)
Not so fun, but at least get it over with on day one!

August 14th & 15: CAMPSITE
Spend two days in the Badlands, Mt Rushmore, etc.
Horsethief Lake Campground (spot #32 - near lake)
Black Hills, SD (a couple miles from Rushmore)

We’ve been told that while the Crazy Horse Memorial will someday be impressive, right now there’s little done and they want $15 just to catch a glimpse… Go to Rushmore instead.
